Vigo Group was honoured to host the national finals of a Prince’s Trust charity award ceremony in the presence of HRH Princess Badiya bint el Hassan, a member of the Jordanian Royal Family.

Vigo have long been supporters of charitable programmes under their ‘Vigo in the Community’ initiatives, and were pleased to offer a purpose built facility to stage this prestigious luncheon event celebrating Mosaic’s Princess Badiya Mentor of the Year Awards.

Named in honour of the charity’s founding Chairman, HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan, the awards recognise the highest standards in mentoring across Mosaic’s programmes and were presented by the Princess herself.

Mosaic Mentor of the Year Awards

Nasrin Akhtar, who works as an Ambitious Futures Graduate Trainee in Leadership and Management at Birmingham City University, became the UK’s ‘Mentor of the Year’ in a hotly contested competition, and was given the award in recognition of her commitment to mentoring with Mosaic, an initiative of The Prince’s Trust.

Nasrin said:

“I have always considered volunteering with Mosaic as a blessing because of all the positive experiences that it’s given me. To win the Mentor of the Year award is a huge honour, but I volunteered with Mosaic just so I could make a difference to the lives of young people. To win an award for doing this is such a surprise and I’d like to share it with all the mentors and pupils that have inspired me these past few years. Volunteering with Mosaic is simply one of the very best things I’ve done with my life.”

Mentor of the Year Awards - Tariq Shah

The event was organised by Vigo Group Director Tariq Shah, who is also a Board Member for Mosaic and a fully trained Mosaic Mentor, volunteering his time and commitment to schools in his local communities. Commenting he said:

“My family and the Vigo team are honoured that Mosaic chose to hold such a high profile event here at our family home. It gave us the opportunity to introduce and showcase their excellent work to our own business contacts and friends and, as a result, to raise awareness of the highly important work that goes on throughout the UK to mentor and guide young people.

As a Mosaic mentor I care deeply about making a difference to the lives of young people and it is extremely rewarding to see them raise their expectations, work hard and aim high as a result of our programmes”.
